Lincoln-Way JV1 Boys Skate into AHAI Final Four with Dominant Win

Homewood, IL – The #2 Lincoln-Way JV1 hockey team delivered a powerful performance on Friday night, defeating the #10 Chiefs 6-1 at the Homewood-Flossmoor Ice Arena and securing their spot in the AHAI State Final Four.

Lincoln-Way wasted no time taking control of the game, as Carter Prochaska found the back of the net just shy of four minutes into the first period. Prochaska was assisted by Alex Macri, giving Lincoln-Way an early 1-0 lead that they would maintain through the period.

The second period saw the Lincoln-Way offensive machine really kick into gear. Owen Britt scored quickly to extend the lead to 2-0, with Prochaska earning the assist. Just minutes later, Anthony Skopick made it 3-0, capitalizing on assists from Jack Antonsen and Dillon Stewart. The dominance continued as Grant Briscoe scored to push the lead to 4-0, courtesy of helpers from Joey Smuskiewicz and Ricky Schultz.

The Chiefs finally broke through with a goal at the 2:20 mark of the second period, but the momentum was firmly with Lincoln-Way as they headed into the final frame with a solid 4-1 advantage.

In the third period, Carter Prochaska added his second goal of the night with assistance from Hunter Lovett, increasing the lead to 5-1. Briscoe then capped off the scoring with his second goal, following a precise setup from Jason Sciacca, bringing the final score to 6-1.

Jacob Andersen was stellar in goal, turning away all but one of the shots he faced, playing a key role in securing the victory for Lincoln-Way. Andersen's superb performance kept the Chiefs at bay, allowing the team to focus on their offensive onslaught.

With this commanding win, Lincoln-Way now sets its sights on a challenging matchup against the #3 Rockford team, scheduled for Sunday, March 9th at West Meadows Ice Arena. The game time remains to be determined, but Lincoln-Way is poised to continue their successful run in pursuit of the state title.
