JV1 Triumphs Over DuPage Stars with 4-2 Victory

In an exciting showdown at HF Ice Arena, JV1 took on the DuPage Stars and emerged victorious with a final score of 4-2. 

DuPage wasted no time making their presence felt, scoring just 1:28 into the first period to take an early 1-0 lead. The first period passed with no further scoring, leaving JV1 with a challenge as they headed into the second.

However, the tide turned with just 1:18 remaining in the second period when Danny Peterson found the back of the net, assisted by Hunter Lovett and Gavin Vasquez, leveling the score at 1-1 and bringing new energy to the team.

As the third period commenced, Joey Smuskiewicz immediately capitalized, scoring off an assist from Grant Briscoe to give JV1 a 2-1 lead. The momentum continued when Alex Macri scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal at the 4:02 mark on an assist from Anthony Skopick, putting JV1 ahead 3-1.

DuPage fought back swiftly, scoring right off the faceoff to trim the lead to 3-2. However, JV1 kept their composure, and Connor Kolosh sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with just 52 seconds remaining in the game, finalizing the score at 4-2.

In net, Jacob Bandzi was stellar, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
